This nutritional information below includes:
1/3 cup oats, 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, 2 tablespoons chia seeds, and 1 small banana.
If you add 1 Tablespoon of ground flax, it brings the total to
13 grams of fiber and 11 grams of protein!!
The peanut butter is even MORE protein.
Not a bad way to start the day!! No wonder this keeps me full clear up to lunch time!
How about a chocolate version? Chocolate Chia Oats are so good with any type of nut butter.
{my girls use the Chocolate Peanut Butter version as a super healthy apple dip!}

A little bit about:
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds and I are becoming fast friends. Why?
~the are jammed packed with protein and minerals and healthy fats and fiber
~they provide more
plant based
Omega 3’s than any other food, even FLAX
~they have 5 GRAMS of fiber PER TABLESPOON!
~they are flavorless and dissolve in juice, soups, stews, shakes etc..
~they are FILLING!
What about you? Have you ever had chia oats?
Can you imagine eating your oats cold? I was skeptical, but then tried it and LOVE it.

May 3, 2013 at 6:41 pmI am curious about the serving size. Is this recipe for one serving or more? I ate all of it this am because it was so good but I didn’t know if I should have split it in half. 🙂

July 3, 2012 at 9:58 amI just made this! It’s wonderful. I eat oatmeal almost every morning, and this was such a nice change. It’s hitting 100 degrees every day this week, so the cold oatmeal is perfect.
By the way, if anyone is still having trouble finding chia seeds, you can get them online at Amazon.

March 14, 2011 at 1:55 amI found Oh She Glows through you and I’m so glad I did! I have the oatmeal or a green monster smoothie every morning now and I love them. Thanks for helping me find her. If you live in a town with a Sunflower Farmers Market, they have Chia in the bulk section for 6 bucks a pound! Sweet!
