Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays #13

***There are 2 areas to link to, please link to the appropriate area.  Thanks!***
Welcome to Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays!  I can’t believe another week has passed by!  This past week was a very busy one for me.  I’ve been preoccupied with planning my baby sister’s baby shower.  Can’t wait to show you some of the fun decorations I’ve been making. She is in town for the week, so my posts will be few and far between as I will be an hour away from home for the majority of the week.

Usually I feature posts from the previous week’s Anti-Procrastination Party, and I will, just not today.  Be looking for a post coming up, featuring some of my favorite link ups from last weeks AP Party posts sometime in the next few days.
If you are new to AP Tuesdays, you can click here to read about what we do and why.  You can also check out the ongoing Doozie to-do list I have going on, too bad baby shower planning was not on there, it would have felt good to have crossed SOMETHING off!!:)

Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays #11 + My First Giveaway!

***There are 2 areas to link to, please link to the appropriate area.  Thanks!!***
Welcome to Anti-Procrastination Tuesday’s and
 MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!
I am very pleased to be able to give away “Simplify” ~ an ebook by Joshua Becker.
Do You Know What A Minimalist Is?  Well, here is your chance to meet one!
From “Simplify”
“Since choosing to simplify his life two years ago, Joshua has encouraged hundreds of thousand of others around the world to pursue minimalism in their life through his blog: www.becomingminimalist.com.  As one of today’s leading proponents of “rational minimalism,” joshua presents 7 principles that will help guide the reader into a practice of simplicity that works for their unique, individual lifestyle.  You will enjoy his unique blend of illustrative stories, theoretical principle, and practical application.  After all, if this typical family of four living in the suburbs can simplify their life, so can you!”

I absolutely loved reading this ebook!  It was an easy read full of many practical tips of how to live life more simply. I jive with his idea of “rational minimalism,” which for me, gives permission to pursue minimalism, even though I am wired to love beauty, creativity and warmth in my home.  Minimalism was something that was appealing to me, yet the typical thoughts of a stark and empty home freaked me out a bit! Joshua’s idea of “rational minimalism” struck a cord with me, it allows for one to have their own style of minimalism, which just makes sense– especially when one has a family with kids!  Yes, more people means more stuff, but as I learned in the book, it is possible and so rewarding to be intentional in the things you decide to keep or to buy. As Joshua says in the book minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we most value, and the removal of anything that distracts us from it.” Love that.

So on to the giveaway!

***There are 2 areas to link to, please link to the appropriate area.  Thanks!!***

It is tuesday again!  I got a bunch of stuff accomplished this week around the house, it sure is a good feeling!
I am finding I have another doozy list in this brain of mine that I need to transfer onto my Doozy list post.  I am getting stuff done before I can get them on the list which is a good problem to have, but it is a bit odd that I am procrastinating on putting things on an Anti-Procrastination list!!:)
Here are a few things I “got did”
1. After wanting to for years, I finally made and delivered May Day Baskets
2. Made bamboo teepees for sugar snap peas
3. Sterilized pots for tomatoes and peppers
4. Organized my spices
5. Scrubbed the grout in my kitchen

Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays #8

***Please Read Before Linking

When I first started “Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays,” the vision was a weekly THEMED link party, one that focused in on what it is we tend to procrastinate on and the motivation to do something about that. I envisioned women visiting each others blogs and writing comments of encouragement, and being inspired as we watched each other accomplish whatever it was that we had been putting off.

This is happening on a small scale, and it has been beautiful!
I have noticed the last few weeks there have been a lot more crafty/project type posts, which fits in a way, because something got done. It has been exciting to see the numbers grow each week, but it has got me thinking about just what kind of link up party do we want this to be? Do we want it to be strictly “procrastination” themed, or are you enjoying the flexibility of “anything goes” and the participants/traffic that brings? I communicated that I was flexible in what “getting something done” was, so it was only natural that there would be a variety of link ups. My fear in this is that we will lose the uniqueness of the “Anti-Procrastination theme.
Donna @ Funky Junk has been asking all type of link party questions, and the answers have been fascinating. Her solution to a problem similar to this was to have 2 separate linky themes on the same link page/party. I am going to try the same. That way we can keep the traffic going, but still keep the uniqueness of the procrastination theme. I think it will be easier for those who come for specific reasons to find exactly what they are looking for.
The first one will be “Anti-Procrastination” Themed:
~things you’ve wanted to do for a long time
~before & afters
The second one will be much more flexible:
~recipes
~crafts
~projects
Please give me your thoughts on this. I will be featuring posts from both camps, but I will be honest and tell you I will tend to lean toward featuring more of the procrastination themed posts, just because that is where the vision was from the start, which is my heart:) Does this all make sense? I will try it out this week and see how it goes. Again, your thoughts matter!

ANTI-PROCRASTINATION/ HOME

Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays #7

I was getting worried that it would be another week where nothing got crossed off the Doozy list.  I checked out the list, and was pleasantly surprised that I would be able to cross off a couple, and I’m in the process of finishing a few more!
Here is what I got done:
~Discuss Allowance With Todd
I am excited to share with you what we came up with in a future post. We went out on a date Saturday night and spent our whole dinner coming up with a plan.  In a nutshell, our children will be able to earn allowance through good behavior, and completed chores/ routines.  Our plans include little jars that they will fill with rocks which they will have to earn, and each filled jar will receive payment.  The plan will start in the month of May, so that is when you can expect a more detailed post on our system.
~Sort My Clothes
This included cleaning my closet, and I am SO bummed I didn’t get pics for you.  It would have been a great before and after:)
~Read A Book A Month
Been visiting the library.  Right now I am reading “20 And Counting” by Michelle and Jim Bob Dugger.  I am just fascinated by how they are able to do life so well.  I have to admit, reading this book is convicting…it is AMAZING how they are able to turn every experience into a teaching lesson for their kids.  That would take such extreme patience! {sigh}
~Go Through Family Wardrobe.
I think we have too many clothes.  Now that winter clothes are packed away, I am getting rid of clothes that we don’t love or need.

Enough of me, on to You!  There were so many super creative projects linked up last week!  Below are some of my favorites.  I love the creative projects,  (keep ’em coming!), but I also love to hear and feature procrastination stories, or see lists of what you would like to get done.  Looking forward to seeing what you all have for me this week!!
