I have spent incredible amounts of time reading up on health, and a reoccurring theme I have found that I cannot ignore is the importance of our bodies getting the vitamins and minerals that we need. I am also struck with how God provided so many ways nutritionally that we can help our health, especially our immune system.
I have agonized over the decision of what supplements to take. Sounds dramatic, but really, it is true. I have looked into all types of brands. I have tried not to get too wrapped up in perfection, but I also want to be wise in what I buy and take. I want to have the best life and health that I can possible have, and making a decisions when it comes to supplements is a large part of living my best life and staying as healthy as possible.
Enter Shaklee.
I took Shaklee when I was in active treatment for cancer…so about 2 years. I loved it. LOVE, loved it! I have missed it dearly! I stopped taking it after radiation and started taking mish- mash of cheaper vitamins thinking it would help with our budget, but I was always questioning whether or not I am getting everything I need, and never really knew if the quality of the vitamins I was taking was ok or not.
I reassured myself that I have a very healthy diet, and that most of my nutritional needs are met with that. But, truth be told, our food is not what it used to be nutritionally, thanks to a depleted soil, and I still wanted the reassurance of a good multi-vitamin to know I am covering all bases. Not only did I want that, but also a good probiotic, a good omega 3 source & most importantly for me being a plant eater–vitamin B-12.
I started getting overwhelmed with all the different bottles of vitamins and supplements I was buying, and really started wondering if I am saving any money going a “cheaper” route, especially knowing most cheap vitamins are full of fillers.
I missed the confidence and ease I had in my supplements when I was taking Shaklee, and decided it was time to go back to them. It was worth the peace of mind, and it was a good time in my pursuit of health to do just that.
I cannot tell you the excitement I felt when I got my box of supplements in the mail. It is quite ridiculous really–to be this excited about vitamins…but I am!!
Here is why:
Enter Vitalizer!
What is Vitalizer?
It is everything I need and was looking for in a handy-dandy little daily Vita-strip!
No more opening a bazillion bottles of vitamins. No more wondering if I am getting all I need. In my pursuit of a simple, healthy life, Vitalizer is the perfect product for me.
Is it worth it to me? Yes.
It contains over 80 nutrients–a multivitamin, calcium, ultra-pure fish oil, and probiotics–plus extra B vitamins, vitamin C, D, & E, and more.
Although a 30 day supply of Vitalizer strips is expensive, when you add up separate bottles of what is listed above, that would be at least 7-10 different bottles of supplements. The average price of a decent supplement is $10-$12 bucks, and supplements such as CO-Q10 can go as high as $25.00, so when I looked at it that way, I felt better about the price of Vitalizer, because it is anything but average!
Here is what caught my eye and made me say YES to Shaklee Vitalizer:
Healthy aging–with N-acetylcysteine, more vitamin B12 & Vitamins C & D
Heart health–with CoQ 10, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin E
Bone & joint health–high in calcium and vitamins D, C, and K
Immune health–high in vitamins C, D, and A plus zinc
Brain health and cognition–with omega-3 fatty acids, plus vitamins B6 and B12
Healthy vision–with lutein and vitamin A
Digestive health–with probiotics
Physical energy–with all eight essential B vitamins.
PLUS triple berry blend–77x more polyphenols, ounce for ounce, than juice
Changing Brands Can Change Your Life...
and I”m banking on that. I believe Shaklee, as they have been around for 56 years, have been thoroughly tested, and their product kept me strong during cancer treatment. My Oncologist was consistently impressed with how well I did through treatment and often asked what I was doing on my own to keep my health up.
“Shaklee Vitalizer is based on 12 clinical studies, as well as the first-ever study done on long-term Shaklee supplement users. Results from this groundbreaking study, published in Nutrition Journal, showed that people who too Shaklee supplements had markedly better health that non supplement users.”
Shaklee Micronutrient Advanced Release Technology–S.M.A.R.T.
Lastly, one of my most favorite things about Shaklee Vitalizer is how it delivers the Right Nutrients to the Right Place at the Right Time. This was a huge selling point for me, as I have read way too often about how vitamins are a waste of money if they don’t get to where they need to go in a timely manner, or if they are not absorbed when and where they need to be in the body. I will let the image speak for itself and show you what S.M.A.R.T. means, or if you want more of a visual click on the video.
Do you take supplements?
Do you wonder if you should or if they are making a difference if you are?
Do you want to join me in taking Shaklee Vitalizer Vita-Strips?
Right now, if you purchase a box (30 day supply) of Vitalizer, you will get a free membership into Shaklee which is a $19.95 value.

December 13, 2013 at 1:03 pmI forgot about this place. Went hunting for extra ordinary stuff and found all of it here. The fresh food section needs some work but for the most part, any whole foods or craft show or eco show could learn from this store. Regina

November 20, 2013 at 10:37 amI really found it useful. But I am searching for some best pct supplements. I have heard that they contain useful vitamins and enzymes. Are you concerned with that too?

September 28, 2013 at 12:16 pmAmy, I noticed the vitamins contain soy, does that concern you? Thanks!!
Amy Bowman
September 28, 2013 at 4:29 pmGreat observation. I will talk about this in a future post, but the soy Shaklee uses is Non-GMO so the small amounts used in the vitamins does not concern me, even as a breast cancer survivor.
Now, they do use a lot of soy in some of their shakes and protein bars. I personally will not be consuming those. If I didn’t not have estrogen type breast cancer history, I would not be as concerned about it, especially since Shaklee uses a non-GMO soy. BUT, I’m also not entirely comfortable recommending people consume large amounts of soy on a daily basis for long periods of time. For short term weight loss program, sure. For a protein shake on a daily basis indefinitely? I hesitate and think there are other plant protein shakes that have less questions. Hope this helps.

September 27, 2013 at 6:15 pmAmy, which one do you take? The pic in your post shows the Vitalizer Gold, which is supposed to be for folks over 50 – you don’t look a day over 35, my dear. Just curious which one you take and if you could exlpain why one might be better than another for us women folk. Thanks!

September 27, 2013 at 6:46 pmLol..I am 37! Great question. I chose the Gold because it contained Co-Q10 for heart health. The chemo I had is hard on the heart so that specific supplement was something I was looking for. It makes the Gold a bit more expensive, but that Co-Q10 supplement alone is one of the more expensive ones so it was worth it to me. It also has 200 iu’s more of Vit D and more Vit K. Another big difference is that the gold does not contain iron. I get my blood checked regularly with my health history and my iron level is always good so I’m ok without it. Another reason is it has N-acetylcysteine which I have read is important for cancer peeps but I can’t remember why! 🙂
I will do an upcoming post on the differences between the two…but hopefully that gives you enough to know what would be best for you. The supplements I listed are really the only key differences in the 2. I took the one for women during treatment, as iron was important for me then.

September 27, 2013 at 5:40 pmOh my goodness your comment makes me so excited. You are officially my first order. Thank you for your support! You will love the vitamins. I got the chewable ones for my youngest and she really likes them. I love that they have a decent amount of Vitamin D…the ones she took before I had to give her extra D but not anymore! Yay for Shaklee!
