My Plan For True Happiness In 2012-Happy New Year!

My friend, Duane Scott of “Scribing The Journey” shared a facebook status about a group he was going to be a part of, and I immediately wanted to be part of the group, too!  The group is called “Read through the Bible in 2012” and I am giddy excited to be a part of it!  It is a group of people, committing to read through the Bible in 2012.  There are many suggestions of reading plans, and lots of encouragement already happening at this group!

I went to work trying to figure out a plan that would work best for me.  I recently bought a Nook book reader, so I knew I would need to be able to read the Bible from it to be successful.  I take it everywhere, and life provides many opportunities to pick it up and read–i.e. waiting in the car when picking up kids!

I was excited when I found the “One Year Chronological Bible” version. I love the idea of the Bible in chronological order.  Those who have read this version commented on how it reads more like a story.  One said that right after reading about David going to battle in one part of the Bible, you then get to read the Psalm he wrote of his thoughts and fears during that battle.  Pretty cool.

When I think of the words, “Happy New Year,” I know that true happiness means knowing my Creator more.  Resting in His plan for me.  The grace and peace He brings, no matter what comes my way…that, my friends, is true happiness.  What better way to find this than to read His Words?

One of my goals for 2012 is to listen to the entire bible. I have been listening to daily audio bible on my iphone. It makes it really convenient to listen anytime. Happy 2012!

This is a great way to start the New Year! I would encourage everyone to seek first His word. It will change your life. I read my bible every year. I also have done it in Chronological order. For me when I read it in order I felt like I was in the OT a long time. I so hungered for the NT so I went back and read the NT along with it in Chronological order. Let us take this time to relish in what He says to us and apply His standards into our walk. Enjoy!

hi Amy! I’m a new follower and am SO pleased that the first feed I get is about the Bible!! I would love to make this a goal for the New Year as well. At church, we always start this same type of challenge and I’ve never taken part. Thanks for encouragement to do so! 🙂

Last year I used the Chronilogical Bible to read thru in a year. It was a great way to read the Word.

The year before I read the Bible in 5 months- I had never been able to finish the commitment to read in a year and a friend told me I am too ADD that I needed to read it in 3 months or so. That worked much better for me!

Have you heard of Youversion.com? It is a free site with any version of the Bible you can think of and they have TONS of reading plans that can be e-mailed to you. I have the Android app and it keeps track of my daily reading for me. Good luck with your mission to read through the Bible…it is one of my goals for the new year as well!

I have this Bible, I used it years ago. You’ve motivated me to bring it out again as I begin my journey in reading the whole Bible this year! God Bless!

I’ve read the bible through before but not in a yr. I think I’d really like reading it chronologically. I didn’t know about this Bible. I’ll be looking for it.

Sounds Like a good one – I have the NIV Bible in a year. Have read it quite a few times – usually every other year. planning to doing it again this year alongside some of Tom Wright’s books – gonna start with Revelation for everyone. that i’ll be the start and end of the bible covered at the same time.
