These are just so cute. I love that fruit is incorporated into a dessert.

Holidays are a time for treats & I think these S’more sticks are brilliant.
Veggies are a good way to celebrate, too! This is a post full of great tips. I have never roasted corn on the cob, definitely going to try it after reading this post.
Not only does she share this great gift idea, but she shares a link for Wordle.com, where you can put in raw text and it will create a wordle for you!  How cool is that??
You know that tiny cupboard over the refrigerator?  Look how she put that usually wasted space to good use.  Great idea, huh?
This is a bin of items to keep in the car that will come in handy at their family’s many sporting events. I love the trick she uses to secure the canvas bin in their car.  So smart!
Proof that if you just start, you may end up getting further then expected!
This is such a great idea and would  make a cute gift.  I love the words she uses, and it spurs all kinds of ideas in my brain.  I may have to make a jar like this for each of my girls with words that describe the amazing things I see in them, with a lid label that says “You are…”

It’s already been a week!  Wow!!  We have been keeping our Summer Doozy list up on the computer screen to remind us of our summer goals.  Many of the items on there are ongoing things that I really can’t cross off, so I’m missing the gratification of adding the strike through line!

Here are some on going things we have been actively pursuing and accomplishing:
~Working in a “zone” of the home 15 minutes a day.
I love this one, this week our zones have been the craft closet, our study closet, my youngest room, and my room.  I just gather all 3 girls, set the timer for 15 minutes and we work as fast as we can in the zone that I choose for that day.  (usually we would stay in the same zone all week, but because of doing this regularly all year, our zones do not have a week’s worth of stuff to do…that truly is a miracle, never thought I would be able to say that:)

~3 chores a day per girl
Example of some daily chores…gathering hangers for the laundry room, emptying the shoe basket, cleaning the pile on the stairs, scrubbing the bathroom sink, sweeping living room and dining room, emptying dishwasher.  Simple chores that take just a few minutes, but keep our home in order.

~Love on neighbor kids.
We have had so many friends over this summer.  My girls are LOVING it!

~Drag a girl into the kitchen with me every time I cook or bake
I had at least one of my girls helping me with the following food items this week: chai tea, strawberry bread, butterscotch bars, lentil soup, spaghetti sauce, popsicles in a cup, pancakes, scrambled eggs.

~Continue to establish morning and evening routines.
They are established and working like magic.  One of these days I will have some posts written by my husband on all our family routines and practices.  He takes his time but it is always worth the wait!

~Start my day with God time.
I’ve been grabbing a book on  God’s grace from my headboard each morning before I even sit up.  It is a short but beautiful way to start my day.

~Write posts on what I am grateful for on a regular basis.
I posted my first one this week.  It has been great fun keeping my eye out for God’s small gifts to me throughout the day.

~Cousin sleepovers
We had my nephew spend the night.  OH boy is he a cutie!

~Keep calendar as balances as possible.
Doing it.  Yipee!

~Create time for reading every day
It has been so much fun the last 3 days to have my girls grab their books and I grab mine, set the timer, and all read (silently) for at least 30 minutes a day.  It is precious to watch my seven year old concentrate so hard on her “big girl chapter book.”

~Read at least 3 novels this summer
I am halfway through “The Help” and I’m loving it!

So as you can see, we have been busy!  I want you all to know that even though I am not able to comment on each of your links this summer, that I visit every one of them and I am so thankful for your participation each Tuesday.

Here are a few featured from last week:

I love this and will be adding it to my Doozy list.  I have the perfect door in my kitchen for this project!

I’m pretty proud of her.  All or nothing doesn’t work for everyone, but kudos to you, Marie, keep it up!
I cannot believe how much she got done in a day!  WOW!  Quite impressive, I’m inspired.
This one is going on our Summer Doozy list, love it.
She did this for the price of a can of spray paint.  So organized!  Had to feature it b/c I love those jars!
Another item for my list!  We go through so many wheat-thins every week, time to make our own!!

Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays #15

I told you last week I would be writing a new, Summer Doozy List to stand in for my regular Doozy List, until school starts again.  Well, I procrastinated, so I just finished the list a moment ago and now I am much later than usual in getting this posted!  The good news is, “AP Tuesdays” works for me, because if it were not for YOU all, that summer list would still be in my head instead of posted.

Feature Posts From Last Weeks Anti-Procrastination Tuesday’s Party
This post got the most clicks out of all of them by far, which speaks volumes about what people are drawn to and looking for when visiting “AP Tuesdays.”  Great post, Catherine!
Love it, loooove, it.  Jars make me happy.  Reusing items makes me happy. Chalkboard paint makes me happy.  When I look at this photo, I’m just…happy.
I love the texture of the rough burlap background against the smooth black frame.  Love the flowers lined up in a row.  Cute.
I love when people post tried and true recipes.  “Tender & Delicious,” Rolled Into A Knot…I’m sold!
I need to add this to my Summer To Do List.  My artsy 10 yr. old would love it!
You are going to think I am playing favorites, as I featured her awesome square foot garden last week, but I couldn’t pass this fun but simple idea up!  Another thing to add to the summer list..

ANTI-PROCRASTINATION/ FAMILY/ HOME

The Start Of A Summer Doozy List

As most of you know, I have “Anti-procrastination Tuesdays” here at New Nostalgia.  Why?  BECAUSE I PROCRASTINATE and I need your help to GET STUFF DONE!  It has turned into a fun link party, with 2 areas to submit your links to.  One for the hard core “Anti-Procrastination Themed Posts” and one I call “Flexible Themed Posts” where you can link up recipes, projects and crafts that were accomplished but procrastination was not part of the post.

I started the link party with this “Doozy List” post, and have noticed that even though it is a list that is not finished, summer has hit &  there are much more pressing things (and not so pressing things) that I want to get done that are not on the list.  I told you all last week I would be working on a new “Summer Doozy List,” and I am…finally…right now.

I usually post my “AP Tuesday” link party post on Monday nights around 10:00/11:00.  Tonight it is going to be after midnight, because I am busy typing away at this new list that really should have been done a few days ago.  Thank goodness I have “AP Tuesday” and YOU, or it would not get done, and I would be in big trouble, because if I can’t even get myself to write a “to-do” list, then I don’t think there would be much accomplishing of  my “to-do’s!”

I do have to say, looking over the week and 1/2 that my kids have been out of school, I am very happy with how we have spent our time and the things we have done.  I’m going to include some of those things on the list, just to have the satisfaction of crossing it off!

This list will have a different feel than my original Doozy list -which I will for sure be getting back to once school is in session- because my main goal this summer is to be the best mommy I can be and enjoy these fleeting, precious moments with my growing girls.

So here we go…
at least a start…
I will be adding more, soon, I’m sure…

Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays #14

***There are 2 areas to link to, please link to the appropriate area.  Thanks!***
Well, I just read through my Doozy of a to-do list, and I think I need to write a separate Summer Doozy List.  Things that were important a few months ago are not as important now, and many of the items on my older Doozy list require extended time without my kids around ( or at least that makes it much easier), so those tasks would be ideal for when they went back to school. (Does that sound like I’m procrastination until fall??:))  So next week, I will have a new Summer list for you.  I have plenty of things I want to accomplish this summer, including HAVING FUN, so a new list is certainly the way to go.
Do you have a separate to do list for the summer?  I’d love to know what is on your list!

Great transformation, I need her motivation!

I drooled.  Especially over her compost bin and rain barrel.  Love how orderly it all is!

I know a certain someone who I just might have to make one of these for….
I have 3 girls, so this idea really caught my eye. So cute!
I thought this was so very creative.  Loved it and LOVE her blog!

Of course, I have to start with this one, since she used my all time favorite…MASON JARS!
Make sure you check out her to DIE FOR laundry room makeover, here.
This one caught my eye because it uses Heath candy bars.  Heath is one of the only candy bars my youngest daughter can eat due to her corn syrup allergy.  We don’t do refined sugars often, but when we do, I will be pulling out this recipe!!

My jaw literally dropped when I saw the before and afters pics of this piano.  I love the transformation!
(I also loved reading her ‘about me’ section, the best part of her life is the best part of mine.)
I was intrigued by some of her suggestions, like mixing yellow and white corn together for the best flavor.  Who knew?  If you don’t have an air popper, you can make your own homemade popcorn using a brown bag and your microwave.
Need a quick and easy way to makeover a bedroom disaster zone?  This post has a  step by step of how to do just that.  Very inspiring!

This quilt is such a great and precious accomplishment.  A gift for her graduating son. 18 years of memories.  Every year since he was born.  Scraps of love–pajamas, shorts, quilts.

Another transformation that made me say, wow!

Look at all those cubbies! Perfect for flip flops!!  I’m not jealous of her laundry shoot, nope, not one bit. (lie)

Everything baby is catching my eye thanks to my pregnant little sister.  I thought these were just so adorable, and she makes it look pretty easy to make them!

These look so easy to make, I would love even love them without the stem as package toppers!

I never would have thought of gluing two glass items together.  Brilliant.
Thank you all for linking up!  You make my Tuesdays so much fun!!
