This week I have been re- establishing our routines, and loving every minute of it.  I posted my Fall Morning Routine, My Kids Back To School Morning Routine, and My Kids Back To School Evening Routine. These posts have brought much traffic to the blog lately, it seems like a lot of us think alike and want to streamline our mornings now that school is back in session.

My Summer list is just about finished, so it is time to revamp my regular Doozy list.  I will put that on my things to do list this week.
Here are a few other things that I need to do, accountability please!!
~Get lettuce going in the garden–it may be too late??
~Call Mick for roof check–I have GOT to do this, fall/winter is coming!!
~Make bday decorations for oldest girls b’day! {Its a candy/cupcake theme.  Fun!}
~Make something with the insane amount of bananas in the freezer–any suggestions?

Today has been an Anti-Procrastination kind of day.  I was actually home all day for the first time in a few days.  I’ve been busy road tripping, my sister gave birth to a new baby boy in Kansas so I HAD to go visit, and I also took a short road trip to a water park with my girls. I so enjoyed my time at both places, but today I was thankful to be home getting my kitchen in order.
I had noticed my pantry, freezer/refrigerator, and garden becoming full of food that needed attention soon, or it would go to waste. It was time to stop procrastinating! I decided to have another “eat from the pantry/freezer refrigerator/garden” week, where I buy very minimal groceries, and make myself concentrate on using up the foods that we have.

~I used up seasoned ground beef that was in the freezer by making tacos
~I used shredded chicken from the freezer for husbands lunch soup
~I used beans from the pantry in same soup
~I made homemade salsa with tomatoes from the garden,
~A new batch of freezer jam with strawberry puree that was in the freezer
~Strawberry banana yogurt popsicles with leftover yogurt and frozen bananas that needed to be used.

During this process, I realized I had an abundance of beans in the pantry, so I put my girls and their little visiting friends to work making bean art!  Wait until you see how beautiful they turned out! It kept them busy for over 2 hours, which allowed me to get much done in the kitchen.  It was a good day, and I felt so very productive!

2 Winners Of  Last Week’s Most- Clicked- On “AP Link”…there was a tie!!:)

I loved this story of how a change in perspective caused her to love her home.
If I did this, I could save almost $200.00 a year just by making this change in my kitchen.  Someday..
Honorable Mention:
I don’t have a Swiffer WetJet, but if I did, you bet I would be saving money by using this tip!
Winner Of Last Weeks Most- Clicked- On “Flexible Link”

Can you believe she won in the Flexible category, too?  I can!  This is a must- read post so click on over and while you are there, either follow her or subscribe.  You all jive so much with her posts, as she is often the winner, so just subscribe already!! (and tell her New Nostalgia sent you..:))
Honorable Mention
This post just might motivate me to paint my wood trim in my bedroom white.  If you click through, there is a pic of her closet doors. I have the same exact doors, (same size, type and location) in my room.  While you are there, check out her post called “Eggstravaganza.”  There is a mason jar full of eggs that makes me very happy and is going in my “Easter decor ideas” file for next year!

Let me know in the comments how you have been doing.  Do you feel like you accomplished what you wanted to this summer?  I don’t know about you, but even with this list I question myself..”did I teach character enough?  did I lose my patience too often?  were we too busy?  were we busy enough? am I sending my kids back to school stronger because of my influence this summer?”  I know I can get wrapped up in these types of questions, so this week I decided to stop worrying and just be at peace with what this summer brought and how we handled it all.  I do my best and God will fill in the rest, right?

Broken Relationship @ Pieces Of My Mind
I’ve been featuring the posts that got the most clicks each week.  This week, Marianne from Pieces Of My Mind wrote a very brave post about her marriage, seeking encouragement and advice.  It was the most clicked on link winner, thank you for caring for her.  She wrote a post this Monday on thankfulness for a “blogging community who cares” and also “a husband who understands and cares about my concerns for our family and wants changes too.”  That was so encouraging to me to read, as she has been on my heart this week. If you would like to read her post, here is the link.  Feel free to offer her some words of encouragement and let her know you are coming from “AP Tuesdays!” She is on of the most faithful participators here at “AP Tuesdays,” and I know she visits many, many of the links each week, as I see her comments when I come visit each of you.  She makes “AP Tuesdays” have such meaning with her encouraging words, and I am so thankful for her!
Done! @ Clean Mama
Runner up under the “Anti-Procrastination” Theme
Clean Mama has such great ideas, I love this woman and her blog!!  She is all about getting things done during the month of August, and encourages us all to do the same.  If you click through to her post, she offers a free, super cute to- do list that is printable.  She is doing a great job of getting stuff done, I’m hoping she will link up her August 5th post because it is AWESOME!

Noah’s Room @ The Pennington Point
Winner of the most clicked on link under the “Flexible” Theme–  I can see why!
I would really, really love to go sit and have a coffee with Lisa on that amazing bench on her porch.  She is such a special lady, with a natural talent of turning everything around her, beautiful.

Playroom Art @ Picadilly Peddlers
Runner up most clicked on links under the flexible theme.
This is so simple, yet looks so professional.  Gotta love vinyl letters!

I am procrastinating.  Right this moment.  I am not going to tell you my progress on procrastination this week (you are not missing much, not much progress!), because I am dying to spend some time curled up with a book.  My girls have camp this week, so we were up early and I’M TIRED!  So glad you are an understanding and gracious bunch!

Marie has been featured a couple times here at New Nostalgia.  Her posts really jive with you, my readers, because she was the most clicked on link this last week at “AP” Tuesday, by far!  I loved her post and was very inspired, but I have to go give her a hard time for showing us this beautiful food, but not posting the recipes!  I know I want that Spaghetti Pie recipe.  Maybe if I tell her I will feature her recipe post, she will write one for us.  🙂
*UPDATE! She is officially awesome, click here for her recipes, and while you are over there, scroll down and become a follower!  You won’t regret it!!!

This post was runner up for most clicked on link.  It is a great post, I had a similar household notebook which I loved, but decided to go paperless and now use Circus Ponies Notebook on the computer, which I love, but there are days I miss turning pages…

I’ve had fun getting to know Jessica through her blog.  Her blog is beautiful, she is beautiful, her little girl is beautiful–even her husband is beautiful.:)  I can’t tell you how happy the above picture makes me.  Such a calm room.  I’ll take that circle mirror, please.

If You Give A Girl A Tomato @ Sweet Country Life
Kristin is one of those people I have just ‘jived’ with.  I like her…a lot.
I also like those jars full of tomatoes…a lot!

Posts like this is exactly why Clean Mama is one of my favorites in blogland.  She made homemade ice cream easy, and to top it off, IT’S IN A MASON JAR!  I’m smiling.

Anti-Procrastination Tuesdays #20-Double Link Week!

It is good to be back on board for Anti-Procrastination Tuesday!  Because I missed last week, today is double up your links day so please feel free to link more then one under each section.

I am eager to hear and see what you have been up to.  I took some time off the blog last week to just focus on and enjoy my family.  We left for a few days to visit Mall Of America, IKEA, and a water park.  It was such a great time, but I feel like I’ve been playing “catch up” ever since we got back!   I’ve been busy doing lots of hair, (I am a hairstylist and even though I do not work in a salon anymore, I do hair for some friends and family), celebrating my 14th wedding anniversary, getting laundry caught up after our trip; cooking for a bunch of teenage boys for an event with my husbands work, keeping track of my kids and a slew of neighbor kids that keep our door revolving when we are home.
This is the first week where I have found myself longing for the predictable schedule the school year brings. I think having “chill time” on our mini-vacation, then coming home to busy life, has left me ready for structure in our schedule.  My personality does much better with structure, so I’m hangin’ on to fleeting moments with my kids before school starts and trying to tell myself “downtime” will come. Today was a “get things done” day, as the rest of the week we have something going on every day and we will not be home much.  I got my house in order today, so now I am ready for the crazy week!  Sort of:)
I’m also longing for extended writing time!  I’m not sure how some of you mom bloggers do it in the summer, keeping up such quality blogs with kids home.  Yes, I am blogging, but barely, and with posts that are a bit thrown together and far from quality!

I am happy with  my progress on our Summer To-Do List.  Many things on the list are ongoing, so I have not crossed them off, but I am doing them!  I am thankful for the list, it not only keeps me on track, but is an encouragement to see that we are accomplishing things that are important to me even though life is at a frustratingly fast pace right now.

One of  my favorite things on my summer list is read at least 3 books.  I am at the very end of “3 Cups Of Tea.” I have LOVED this book, it is so inspiring and has taught me much about the way of life in another part of the world.
Another one of my favorites on the list is have cousin sleepovers.  We have cousins that live an hour away, and I make sure each one has a separate sleepover with us in the summer.  We are down to one more cousin, and it has been a joy to have them!
I have yet to take my early riser on a surprise breakfast picnic.  Tomorrow may be the day.  We’ll see how early I get to bed to make it happen!

This week I have been concentrating on getting to know my neighbours and having neighbour kids over.  Our front door has become a revolving one this summer, just today there have been girls from 4 different families here at 4 different times.  It was only this past winter when my girls prayed specifically for new neighbours to play with (we had lived here 3 years and there were no kids to be found!).  God heard and answered, and I am grateful.

Here are a few featured posts from last week, starting with the one that got clicked on the most! The Morris Tribe’s total clicks were double everyone else’s, and this is the second week in a row that happened! Pretty impressive!

For me, it will have to be August or September, but what a great idea to start early!
Look what a beautiful bathroom “anti-procrastination” can get you!  Love the blue and brown.

My girls would have great fun opening their lunch box and finding one of these inside!
All you need is fruit and orange juice, and some little hands to mush it up for you.  Fun!

Mason Jars!  I plan to use take this idea and make a different shape, spray paint the jars (too lazy to do it by hand), and fill it with goodies or a candle to give as a gift.  Cute, huh?
Such a good looking garden, and a great idea to protect little seedlings!

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to Anti-Procrastination Tuesday!

To read my original “Doozy List,” read this post.
To read my “Summer Doozy List” read this post.
I am steadily working on my Summer Doozy list, concentrating this week on relaxing and reading.  I have a goal to read 3 novels, which does not seem like much, but I do a lot of reading for personal growth, so to find time to disappear into a novel takes some thought and planning.  I just finished “The Help” and loved every minute of it.  Now I am reading “Amish Grace.” (not a novel, but definitely a book that draws me in) What are you reading this summer?
New Nostalgia

These link ups got the most clicks last week, and I can see why!

This post is full of wisdom and is one I have read a few times over.  Kelly is a wise woman who knows what her priorities are and shares how she goes about keeping her priorities straight.  Here is one of my favorite parts of her post…”Take control and stop trying to please everyone!  You can’t, you know.  You just can’t, so stop trying.  Do what’s best for you and your family.”

Diann has given herself permission NOT to do it all.  Loved her insight & realness. Her post shares her internal struggle with her “To-Do” list and the solution she came up with.

What a great idea, hanging milestone shadowboxes on a wall to remind yourself of the history you have created.  Oh how I wish I knew about this idea when I was first married!

I’ve tasted some incredible Tahini Dressings at my local health food store, but they always cost over $5.00, so I am very interested in this recipe, especially since I am growing parsley!

Yum, yum & yum.  I love roasted garlic and I know I would love this dish!
