Weekly Update
My Teagan turned 18 last week. WHAT? Cannot believe it.
We always have her party out at her Grandparents’ pool house. End of August is the perfect time for a pool party! It was a breeze to prepare the party this year. She did all the shopping with her guy 🙂 for supplies and groceries. They blew up balloons, he cut the fruit and made his famous garlic bread. All I had to do was boil noodles for the pasta feed and make meatballs and sauce!
She placed board games around on tables inside and outside by the pool. I loved watching a bunch of teens gathered around the table, playing ‘Telestrations‘ (our new favorite game) and laughing. They turned the pool lights on once the sun set and busted out the glow sticks– because you are never too old for glow sticks!!

All Things Hygge
Have you seen the word Hygge all over the place? I have, and I’m loving the whole concept of it. It puts into words something that has been inside of me naturally, and something I want more of!
“Hygge (pronounced hue-gua not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with a friend, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cozy, charming or special.
It involves a certain slowness, and the ability to be present, to recognize and enjoy the present moments. It is a feeling and can be lived out and created in different ways.
I want this feeling in my home and especially desire it in the fall and winter months.
Want to learn more about Hygge? Read the book I am enjoying called “The Little Book of Hygge.”
Minimal Decor
Because of my Hygge obsession, I am being drawn more and more to all thing simple and minimal. When my surroundings are low maintenance and clutter-free, I can relax into the moments so much easier!\
I’m eager to put white paint on my walls this fall, get rid of excess decor, and pair down. I’ve started the process and it is already so refreshing!
Good Posture
I sit in front of my laptop at least 4 hours a day, and I’ve noticed if my posture is not what it should be, I pay for it with a stiff neck and a sore back. I’ve been getting up for a quick outdoor walk taking time to stretch while working, which helps, but I really need to pay attention to how I’m sitting when working.\
I saw this posture corrector and am very intrigued. I may be ordering it this week. Have any of you used such a thing? Let me know your thoughts.
I’m also eyeing this laptop stand. It brings my laptop up to the correct height, which was a suggestion from my physical therapist when I went to see her complaining about back pain. It keeps your neck in neutral position instead of bent, looking down. I need this!
Ongoing Obsessions
Kindle Fire
This ongoing obsession with my Kindle Fire is not letting up. I especially love using it in the evenings when tucked in bed. It’s like my own perfect sized, personal television. Before I indulge in watching Netflix, Amazon Prime shows, or my fav YouTube Channels, I make sure I read at least a chapter or two of whatever book is on my Kindle. I love using the same device to both read and watch.
Essential Oil Diffuser
Still using it daily and love it! The Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser by AromaSoft is amazing for getting the scent out into larger rooms. It is priced very reasonably and works so well! After buying 4 other diffusers, I did some research, read a ton of reviews, and bought this one. I’m so happy I did!
Rocky Mountain Oils
Rocky Mountain Oils are my current oils of choice. I just love them, their scent is so pure! I really appreciate the free shipping.
My new “back-to-school, almost fall” blend:
2 drops orange
1 drop cinnamon bark
1 drop vanilla
Another scent I love for “almost fall” is Majestic Breeze from RMO. It smells like a warm hug to me. I diffused it all last fall and winter, so I’m eager for the cozy familiar scent again! The description says it is calming and balancing. No wonder I love it. It is on sale right now!
