I am so very excited to finally have launched my new website design! It has taken much planning, organizing, simplifying & designing, but I think it turned out amazing. I hope you think so too!
You might have noticed my postings have been scarce lately, and now I can tell you why! I’ve been a bit busy behind the scenes.
Let me show you around!
You will notice a much more simple header. Yes, I still love my grey circles, so had to keep one. Look up in the upper left corner of the header and check out the ‘New Here’ page. Even if you are not new, you might enjoy reading about where we have come from and where we are going. You can also see our awesome contributing team on that page. My ‘About Amy’ page tells you all about me, just in case you don’t know enough already!
Take some time clicking on my socialize buttons. I would love it if you followed me on Facebook, tweet with me, mosey through my pins on Pinterest or see what the Bowman family has been up to on Instagram. So much community happens on these sites, and I’d love to see you there!
If you ever get lost on the new site and want to find your way back to the home page, just click on the big round ‘New Nostalgia’ button in the header.
If you want to quick look for something you found on New Nostalgia, but can’t find again, click the little magnifying glass to the right of the menu bar to search the site.
The menu bar now has 6 categories. If you click on one of those categories, they have subcategories that are laid out in grid style, each post showing off with a featured photo. This is where it gets exciting!
Here are the 6 categories, what they are about, and their subcategories:
Healthy Living
Pursue health & wellness
~cancer journey
~nutrition
~natural cleaning
~natural beauty products
Slow Living
Breathe. Do what brings you life.
~gardening
~music
~spiritual
~books
Meaningful Living
The all of what life is about
~leaving a legacy
~captured tidbits
~#livingnew
~family
Simple Living
Pare down. Be purposeful & find the freedom to really live.
~minimalizing
~homemaking
~simplify/organize
~what I buy & why
Fun Living
Do things that make you smile and bring life.
~crafts/diy
~homemade gifts
~mason jars
~holidays/parties
~makes me happy
Eat To Live
Nourish your body with food.
~recipes (these will soon be organized by course. Until then, use the Recipe Index at the bottom of Recipes)
~raw foods
~smoothies/juicing
For the above screen, I clicked on Slow Living. Gardening is the first subcategory of Slow Living. If you keep scrolling you will see the rest of the subcategories for this menu item. I am a very visual person, so organizing the most recent posts of each category by grid and graphic makes me giddy!
As you can see in the photo above, I also have socialize buttons and the right under my profile picture and welcome in the sidebar. I want to keep those front and center because I want you all to use them!
The above photo shows you where to click to see my Recipe Index. This is where my recipes are organized alphabetically, according to course. It also shows some of our more popular categories at New Nostalgia linked in the sidebar.
If you keep scrolling down the page, you will see a big square button that invites you to follow me on Pinterest. Why don’t you click on it? Go ahead…I will wait.
Under that are some fun circle buttons, the one that says ‘Recipes’ is another quick way you can get to my recipe index. The ‘#livingnew’ button is a fun NEW series I will be doing on how to live new. The popular posts button is a nice way for newbie visitors to find the best posts. A.P. Tuesdays is my weekly Anti-Procrastination Tuesday link party-a party that everyone is invited to every week–come to Be Encouraged, Be Inspired & Get Something Done!
Last but not least, the footer. The footer is at the very bottom of the site. I will have some great featured posts there. I will be switching them up from time to time, so keep and eye out for that.
There is one more opportunity to socialize, my terms of use, AND…TAKE NOTE…the AMAZING Nudge Media. Nudge Media made this whole redesign happen and has made this site all that I dreamed for it to be and more. Check out Nudge Media for some of the most amazing blog templates I have ever seen!
I hope you all love the site. We will be continuing to make it as good as it can be in the coming days. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and THANK YOU for always coming along with me on as I pursue what it means to do this #livingnew thing!
