Weekly Update

I’m slowly but surely getting into a summer routine. It is a very flexible one, but that is just fine during the summer. I love routine because a bit of structure helps to make sure the things that are important get done, but I am also enjoying the freedom that a summer schedule brings.

My Avery has soccer conditioning at her school 3 mornings a week, so I find myself unexpectledly driving to her high school even though it is summer break! It is a great workout for her, a chance to see her teammates, and it gives our week some structure, so it is a positive thing and I am taking advantage of it.

Those 3 days I am waking early to write and do admin work from 6-9, then while she is at soccer conditioning I have been going to the gym, to take advantage of the forced structure of our week. It is working well, and 2 of the 3 days I take a yoga class that my gym offers.

Our afternoons have been slow and I am loving it. There is always plenty to do, and I have a few home projects calling my name…along with some blog projects, but I keep telling myself all will get done in good time, and life is not an emergency.

My girls are growing up and won’t need me in the summer for much longer, and I find they need me less and less now, so I hold my to-do list loosely and make sure I’m available for them, especially in the afternoons and evenings.

Favorite Things

Mid-Rise Linen Blend Pants

I have 2 pairs of this pant style from Old Navy! The style and fit of these Mid-Rise Linen Blend Pants from Old Navy is so easy breezy and a nice alternative to shorts in the summer.

They are drawstring which makes me happy because I’m on a weight loss journey and don’t want to waste money by purchasing items that may be too small in a month.

I have an olive green pair that is 100% cotton and so comfortable. I also have a black pair and I’m waiting for this navy pinstriped linen blend pair. They are super cute with sandals, I will link the 2 pair of sandals I wear mine with.

They also look great with tennis shoes or flip-flops.

I roll mine up at the bottom because I’m only 5’2 so to get the right length, I roll them.

Metallic Double Strap Sandals

I have these Metallic Double Strap Sandals in gold and love them. The gold is matte so it adds a bit of shimmer and shine to an outfit without being too blingy. It is like jewelry on your feet!

They are super comfortable and I can shop in them for hours with no problem.

Click through the above slideshow to see the new version–I want those, too! The new ones mix it up with a canvas looking strap and a textured silver strap. I love those and again, they would be like wearing tasteful jewelry on your feet.

The double strap keeps them snug on your feet and makes them very easy to walk in.

3 Strap Block Heel Sandals

I also have these 3 Strap Block Heel Sandals (click the arrow in above image to scroll through slideshow) in brown.

They are incredibly comfortable and are my go-to sandal for when I want to dress it up a bit. They go great with just about anything, from a strappy, flowy summer dress or skirt to a cuffed jeans or shorts.
